I think this may be my first comment ever on this website but.... I love this VN so much both Jay and Wren and so <3. I just want to say it's a shame you can't romance them both.
I just replayed this game after finishing it a few years ago, and the second playthrough was so much better than the first! I kept noticing small details that I hadn't before or had forgotten, and it was like a fresh start to replay this again. Let me just say, I love Jay. Absolutely adore the way his character is made and written, and I would love to see more of him and Wren's shenanigans!
I'm glad your second playthrough didn't lose it's charm!
Jay is an extremely indulgent character for me 😂 so I'm always happy to hear that people like him. There will definitely be more Jay/Wren shenanigans in the future!
This game was so fun and interesting but I feel like u favored the blonde over the other guy T-T there were more current special moments or something but maybe that was just me i just wanted more of Wren
Wren and Jay have the same number of unique scenes, so you were probably favoring Jay with your choices and got on his route. If you favor Wren instead, you should see more of him :)
Oh I played both routes! I've been an avid fan of romance games for a while lol I just meant on Wren's route it seemed like we got less of Wren compared to how much Jay we got on Jay's route. But I might be totally wrong! I just really really love Wren :'D he's so frickin cute
I added this to my Favorite VNs list even before I had finished the game. Really, I don't think I can add anything new to the praise already given, so I'll just list a few of the things I especially liked: - intriguing, exciting and original story - even the minor characters had personality - using my brain-- you have to pay attention and think through things because the choices have an impact - polished-- noticed only a few minor typos - the right amount of otome for me-- I like when the romance takes the back seat Thank you so much for this amazing game!
This was a very lovely game. Not only did the actual plot to the game throw me for a serious loop which I always love- But the characters were witty and endearing. I loved all the constant banter and back and forth between the three, and I always appreciate a smart female mc, we don't get enough of those. While there weren't many CG's the ones provided were still very nice to see and it left me wanting more. Can't wait to see what else you do!
Not gonna lie, probably the first VN that I've played so far that made me want to see all the endings. I just had to write a review because I LOVED Red-Handed Robin. Download and play it now, because the rest of this is going to have vague spoilers.
First of all, the concept is amazing. The whole gist of VN is consciously choosing dialogue in a game, but I've never played one where that was also a conscious decision for the character. The keeping-your-backstory mini-game got me hook, line, and sinker, and the fact that it was legitimately a game between Robin and Wren was amazing, I don't think I've ever played a game where the rivalry between the MC and another character was written this well.
The First Witch story really turned the genre of this, but I love how it's so easy to see hints of it from the beginning as well as other backstory elements of other characters. Like how both the old women and Fletcher had red eyes or how Wren had the golden pocket watch chain on his character sprite the entire time. It was super satisfying finding out those details and then being proven right when those reveals happened later.
I like how the story doesn't give everything to you, it feels more realistic that way, but also, it's a fun surprise when you realize you were wrong, like saying Jay was lying when he was talking about having at least one sibling, or when you learn something that you hadn't thought about but was entirely realistic, like that detail about Robin's mom near the end.
I also love how every single one of the characters that show up have a sprite. I've played a lot of VNs where the NPCs that aren't named simply show up as silhouettes and it took away from the immersion of the game, but Red-Handed Robin didn't do that. It made giving everyone a voice so much fun.
And the bad endings, god, they're so good. I don't normally play back for these because it's typically just "You Die, Game Over" but that was in the minority for the bad ends, and the guilt leading through some of those choices is a lot of fun, especially with the Truth or Lie game. They also just reveal different sides of Jay and Wren. I did not mind the Jay Bad End at all, I'm so weak to the "I'll protect you from anything, even yourself" trope.
Also, FINALLY A DIRECT MC. Girl goes and takes the initiative to kiss both boys in their separate routes. The Wren ending takes the cake, I love him and I LOVE the CG that we got.
I finally decided to play this, and god I don't regret one bit of it. This game got me so intrigued and excited. I fell in love with this because it's all I ever wanted in a game. Hot guys, mysteries, and lots of thought. I enjoyed this and I'm looking forward to playing it again! (Ps, Jay is HOOOOOOT OMG)
Decided to play another one of you're VNs after I played Fetch Quest. You're really good at writing female protagonists! I really enjoyed this one, though it didn't really go the way I expected.
Personally I think any type of supernatural twist should be introduced really early on in the story, otherwise it just kinda comes out of nowhere. It kinda clashed with what I was expecting to get out of the game. Nonetheless, it was still pretty fun. Good enough to be a commercial release tbh.
I'm probably gonna play it again to get Wren's route since I got Jay's. Then I'll probably play Pirated Code too next.
Yes it took me long to decide which route im playing first. Yes i laughed a bunch of times. Yes my cat was watching me play it and sneezed everytime Fletcher was on screen.YES I ADDED THIS GAME TO MY "AMAZING" LIST WITHOUT DOUBT.
But then after Robin, Jay and Wren got interrupted in the middle of their coin game, all of the sudden these two old ladies pulled out a ticking watch and wrecked shit up.
Robin gave up her stolen goods to Fletcher in order to save Wren, but he dies anyway with somekind of being that looks like Robin? There to comfort him in his final hours. And Jay is nowhere to be seen, probably left to his fate by those evil old hags.
I was left completely dumbfounded and disappointed by how things escalated so quickly out of the blue. This is not what I was expecting from this game and even though I could read a guide to get a good ending, I just don't like the game anymore because of these supernatural elements shoved in it.
I had so much fun playing this game! I'd planned on binging it before work, but then I had to stop partway through, and you can imagine exactly how much spacing out I did during my shift. I feel like these characters are just gonna live rent-free in my head forever, and honestly? I'm okay with that. (And hey, not making them pay rent--hopefully, they're okay with that, too. lol)
I would usually want to talk about favorite characters here, but I cannot pick a favorite . Robin is such a delightful protagonist. I love her personality so much. She's clever and funny, yet vulnerable and flawed, and just... it's a joy to spend time in her head. And both the love interests are wonderful too! I can't even pick a favorite there! I love how Wren is both cunning af and adorably shy at times. I love how Jay is all ~cool and protective~ but then he's also a softie. I love them all (and I heard there's a sequel planned? so I have my fingers crossed for an OT3 route because I ship them in ALL the iterations)
And the other characters were good, too. (*except Mr. Gardener and Chadwell. In this house, we do NOT appreciate Mr. G and Chadwell, lmao) I have a huge soft spot for the elegant woman, even if I don't even know her name. And I love how all the characters got a unique portrait, even if they were really minor! It's little touches like that which I really appreciate.
Speaking of art, the CGs were cute af. And I loved the extra art you can unlock after getting the good endings. Like I was laughing so hard at a few of them. This entire game is a delight. (Same with your other games, too!) I look forward to seeing what you create in the future!
Hi there! I had a lot of fun playing Red-Handed Robin and I wanted to leave a comment with some feedback! :)
It comes as no surprise that the writing in this game is just as intelligent and comedic as it was in Fetch Quest. The little dialogue "minigames" are mentally engaging and fun, the humor is on-point, the art is lovely, the little details that hint towards the reveal are cool as hell, and the characters are unique and well-defined. Also, I only saw one typo in the whole game (use of "affect" instead of "effect" at one point), so the editing is also great.
I think the only real constructive feedback I have (beyond "I wish it were longer," of course) would be that I felt confused about the intricacies of the plot and backstories -- a lot of the worldbuilding didn't create a full, clear image for me [*Elaborated on below; spoilers]. Even so, I thoroughly enjoyed the game and really appreciate the clearly vast amount of care that went into it. I wish we had gotten some more answers, but nonetheless -- Red-Handed Robin is clever, well-written, unique, and visually beautiful!!
-------
*I'm mainly referring to the witches and occult elements, but I also found myself having unanswered questions and confusion about character backstories and general information as well. For instance,
How did Robin use deus-ex-machina life-saving magic once? What happened during that dream (?) segment?
What was going on with the B-plot about the folktale, the silver box, the green gem, the eyes, and just...most of what went on with the witches on the train?
Was there a connection between the "occult" serial killer and the actual witches?
What happened to Robin's mother?
What was the situation with Shay's family? They're following him?
What happened to the elegant lady and her husband?
Those kinds of questions sort of sum up my confusion -- most of it is fairly minor, but it built up over time.
Overall, I really truly enjoyed the characters and their interactions, but the cleave between how deliberate and exacting the writing is around topics like Robin's lies versus how lax the internal canon's exposition and worldbuilding are was occasionally jarring to me. A minor example is: the game exclusively mentions and takes place in fictional countries, but the real-world English legend of Robin Hood is of central importance to the plot and characters. This sort of thing left me feeling as though I was lacking key information throughout the game, which made the good endings feel a bit abrupt and unfulfilling when it became clear that there would be no answers to the question of what was going on behind the scenes the whole time.
I think you're justified in your critique that some of the elements weren't properly explained. I was trying to do a lot here, and I was/am still a newbie writer, so it ended up pretty messy. I also knew I wanted to write a sequel at some point, so that's why, for better or worse, a lot left ambiguous at the end.
I'm glad that you still enjoyed it despite it's weak points!
This is honestly, without a doubt, one of the most fun and thrilling VNs I've played.
From the very beginning I fell in love with the characters, and only grew more attached to them as the game went on.
Love the way that your choices can lead to swift bad endings rather than just divert the story too, very chastening for the player (I got 2 bad endings and I'm still not over them!) and makes for a good challenge too!
I'm very tempted to go back and have a crack at getting the other good ending because I'm super curious! I also saw the news about a sequel, which makes me squee with excitement!
so i played a bit (as in yeah i got all the CGs at least) and firstly THANKSSSSSSSSSS!
secondly like is it supposed to end in as much mystery as it did? like was the maiden , flagpie or Fletcher . WHO WAS THAT IN THE END?
what actually happened in the jewel story
and shay's family?? i feel like idk anything at all and am more confused than before tho kind of not.
why did the watch thingy with Fletcher actually work as in how could it tell she was lying in yes/no when robin wasn't even her real name like u can make any name up and it's trueness (what am i doing to english, just excuse this my brain's kinda fried rn) doesn't matter just that the questionee acknowledges it as such? kinda wish the elegant lady and her hubby made out tho
The reason there is still a lot of mystery at the end is because I have a sequel planned. I'll try to answer your questions as best I can without getting too deep into spoiler territory.
1. The entity talking to Robin at the end is only pretending to be Fletcher. That's all I can really say about that, haha.
2. You don't get to know much about Shay's family because Shay himself has been kept out of the loop. (You'll learn more about this is in the sequel.) As far as he's aware, they're an organization of mercenaries.
3. Fletcher is forced to follow a set of rules in order for his spell to work- One of them is that he must use a name in his questions. The name will work as long as it's an alias the person is currently going by. The rules change depending on if he's using their true name or an alias.
So yes, the questionee subconsciously acknowledges the name for the purpose of the spell. They also subconsciously acknowledge their true name. It doesn't have to be their birth name- it will be whatever they consider their true name to be.
4. The elegant woman and her husband did make it out with the help of a young witch pretending to be a train attendant. You'll likely see them in the sequel :)
wow i kinda realize re-reading this that i really really barged all the questions (this is what happens when u just finish the game with cliffhangers im looking at u and comment) but thank u so much for answering. AND i wanna say no, thank U for making this F2P.
this definitely clears up a lot. had a feeling about 1 & 2 or just that they make sense now that ik. 3rd is pretty interesting actually, i think i'll keep going back 2 the game just to play the interrogation part and clear up more things( I'm gonna end up having most screen time with Fletcher than any LI then lol.) + *happy dance that they both made out*
now that im done with rattling. i genuinely wanna thank you for making this like so... intellectual? like i had 2 use my brain and couldn't just click on any option. no kidding when that story option came about whether i knew or didn't understand what wren was trying to get across- i just laid on the floor for good 15 min. just thinking .
The three lies game? wow. Wren's subtle hints that suddenly made sense? yesss. The fact that Wren didn't just suddenly rejoice that Fletcher was dead but was conflicted? surprising 4 me and gave me a new prespective. Wren's sarcasm? yesss. Shay not being the grumpy old man but teasing mc now and then and being playful too? the depth surprised me srsly. Shay forgetting that mc and he were siblings and saying i have at least one sibling? priceless bcz even i forgot that as i changed my option in the 2nd run through. the characters having so much depth was actually surprising so not meant as an insult ( as i don't normally see that or just that in general ppl get categorized as a type even irl). Things got really confusing in the end myb the pace was rushed when a lot of info was not there? (tho it'd have been weird for it 2 not be so as they were trying to run, so it's a trap either way) or myb my brain was fried (which it was)
besides it's getting long but i have so much to say. ARGHHHHH. So 2 make quick notes-
I F LOVED THE MC: i dont think she was selfish honestly, like yeah she was a theif and had other vices like using ppl and all. She was not kind at first glance but- oh uk what u did! it's not that simple to call her anything while not having a counter argument. She felt guilt towards the LI but was aware that her feelings and expectations cannot be all there is. Like in her backstory? she had the courage to leave her family. SHE WAS JUST FABBBBBBBBBBBBBBB! Honestly before all the LIs and Fletcher, im gonna propose to Roslin. I don't love them less i just love her most. and that's probably bcz u did such a fantastic job when normally mc's aren't so visible in a game.
the LI's. that's it. i don't need to say more. i'm kinda leaning towards wren but that myb bcz i played his route last but *chef's kiss their character depth, history with the mc etc.
the fact that rather than one choice which was - " scold wren" or "scold jay", NONE of the options were staring you in the eye like- "i'm his route!!!" which was wow too.
and i could go on & on but i got the main things down at least xD. thanks for this! looking forward to the sequel.
I do agree that the pacing is a little off in places- probably because I wrote the game in pieces instead of all at once. This is definitely something I want to work on in the future.
I'm glad you thought the characters had depth, as that's something that's really important to me. I wanted it to feel like this is Roslin's story, and she wasn't just being dragged through the plot by the LIs.
Thanks again for sharing your thoughts! Comments like this really make my day.
honestly, this was so fun and charming! i really loved getting invested into the story, wow, i loved how all the choices seem to matter and progress! honestly your characterisation is great and i loved all the character's personalities. thanks for making this wonderful game :^)
one last thing, please stay hydrated drink water now haha take care
As a big fan of mystery novels and fantasy, this combined the best of both worlds. I really wish to see how Robin and Wren's relationship turns out. Wren is my favorite and that's because I'm a sucker for detective characters. The cat and mouse gain made me swoon. Will the sequel be featuring new characters or the same?
I loved how the game was challenging. You not only had to keep track of your lies but also detect the nuances in the dialogue.
Yay! I've always liked it when the protagonist ends up with the childhood friend. In most media, the protagonist ends up with the cooler, guy that comes into their life later. I just find the one-sided longing so pure and innocent that I prefer it much more.
I absolutely loved this game. It was challenging, thoughtful, and very well made! Jay's route got my attention first (I'm a sucker for a grumpy bodyguard), but Wren's turned out to be my favorite; he melted my heart. (Is it bad that I wished for an OT3 route? I could totally see those guys being into each other as well, if their ... unwilling bonding time was any indication). What a game, I wish there were ten of you so you could make ten times the wonderful visual novels. :P
I can't wait to see what these troublemakers get up to in the sequel! Thank you so much for making this. I'll keep an eye on anything else you make. <3
I played this game with my best friend and we absolutely loved it, so much that we played all the endings! Loved the story and how all the choices impact the ending. The only thing we wished to have seen more was of Fletcher's personality. It would've been nice if the player could've developed a relationship because he seems like an interesting character.
We also really enjoyed the supernatural element to the story, it made it very interesting kinda juiced out the storyline. If you ever make a second I would love to see more of that concept and world building flourish.
btw also loved the artwork and the secret gallery you get as a reward from completing all of the endings!
Thank you for making this amazing game and giving my long distance friend and I a chance to connect and have fun!!!

Yo I dunno if you're still updating this game but like just so you know you can crash the game by just spamming the escape key a few times
Thanks for letting me know :)
I think this may be my first comment ever on this website but.... I love this VN so much both Jay and Wren and so <3. I just want to say it's a shame you can't romance them both.
I'm honored your first comment was on my game! Romancing both Jay and Wren is definitely something that's in the cards for the future.
for some reason whenever i try to download the ending pdf i keep getting an error message. do you know why
Hm, I'm not sure! I tried downloading it myself and it seems to be working fine. Could you try using another browser?
ill try thanks for the reply <3
I just replayed this game after finishing it a few years ago, and the second playthrough was so much better than the first! I kept noticing small details that I hadn't before or had forgotten, and it was like a fresh start to replay this again.

What age rating would you give your game?
Probably 18+. Hope that helps!
It does! Thanks! ^-^

i've been surfing through *dozens* of otome games out of boredom, and my disappointment almost made me give up until i saw the thumbnail for this one
AND BEST DECISION EVER??? THIS IS AMAZING
this game makes me laugh but it also makes me want to cry and maybe question my life choices
in no situation am i ever good with words so let me just say
i love it 🙏 i love jay 🙏 and i love you 🙏
Thanks! Making this game made me feel all those things as well 🤣
Glad you liked it!

It took me forever to get a good ending but so worth it! Team Jay Forever!
Thanks for playing!
everytime i open this happends and it crashes after a few sec. Same happends with fetch quest

man, this game was so great,i loved the fast thinking and the strong personalityy of Robin.Thank you.

I tried to get an ending with Jay.

As for the possibility of an OT3 route in a future game… We’ll let’s just say I’ve always imagined them as a package deal.
Thanks so much for playing and letting me know what you think!
(Side note: Even though they’re not mentioned in the story, all the extra characters do have names. The elegant woman’s name is Aria.)
Wow, thank you so much for this comment! I’m so flattered to hear that my game might be nostalgic to someone.
I’m happy you liked both Warren’s shy side and his mischievous side, haha.
I loved this game!! It was so fun, both of the love interests are very very charismatic
I'm glad you liked it! Thanks for playing.
It's really lovely this game, i love both the route and both the guys <3
Thanks so much! I'm glad you liked it :)
It's a pretty fun game, I liked the lying sections. However, SPOILERS
the entire witches thing was confusing to me.
Thanks for playing!
DOES IT WORK IN WINDOWS 7 32 BIT
Yes, it does.
thank you I think I've seen you before, your games are great, good luck in your work
This was a really fun game. Wren was great.

This sort of thing left me feeling as though I was lacking key information throughout the game, which made the good endings feel a bit abrupt and unfulfilling when it became clear that there would be no answers to the question of what was going on behind the scenes the whole time.
Thank you for the feedback!
OMG THIS GAME IS NEXT LEVEL OMG SO GOOD THANKS GUYS!
Glad you liked it! Thanks for playing.
Yo this game is awesome, Im just mad at myself that I couldn't get my lies straight lmao, but honestly good job, it's a lot of fun
Thanks for playing!
If you're a VN fan this is a must play!
This means so much to me! Again, thanks so much for playing. Seeing new episodes come out was the highlight of my day.
so i played a bit (as in yeah i got all the CGs at least) and firstly THANKSSSSSSSSSS!
secondly like is it supposed to end in as much mystery as it did? like was the maiden , flagpie or Fletcher . WHO WAS THAT IN THE END?
what actually happened in the jewel story
and shay's family?? i feel like idk anything at all and am more confused than before tho kind of not.
why did the watch thingy with Fletcher actually work as in how could it tell she was lying in yes/no when robin wasn't even her real name like u can make any name up and it's trueness (what am i doing to english, just excuse this my brain's kinda fried rn) doesn't matter just that the questionee acknowledges it as such?
kinda wish the elegant lady and her hubby made out thoThanks for playing!
You'll likely see them in the sequel :)
wow i kinda realize re-reading this that i really really barged all the questions (this is what happens when u just finish the game with cliffhangers
im looking at uand comment) but thank u so much for answering. AND i wanna say no, thank U for making this F2P.this definitely clears up a lot. had a feeling about 1 & 2 or just that they make sense now that ik.
Shay forgetting that mc and he were siblings and saying i have at least one sibling? priceless bcz even i forgot that as i changed my option in the 2nd run through. the characters having so much depth was actually surprising
sonot meant as an insult( as i don't normally see that or just that in general ppl get categorized as a type even irl). Things got really confusing in the end myb the pace was rushed when a lot of info was not there? (tho it'd have been weird for it 2 not be so as they were trying to run, so it's a trap either way) or myb my brain was fried (which it was)besides it's getting long but i have so much to say. ARGHHHHH. So 2 make quick notes-
I do agree that the pacing is a little off in places- probably because I wrote the game in pieces instead of all at once.
I'm so glad I got a good ending on my first run-through!!
Whoa, that's pretty impressive! Ty for playing :)
thanks for playing, and I’m glad you like it!
According to a popularity poll I ran a while ago, Jay is the more popular of the two. So yep, you’re in the minority for preferring Wren, haha.
What a fun game - thanks for sharing!
Robin is an absolutely amazing MC and I love the fantastical plot.
Thanks for playing! I'm glad you liked the game :)
honestly, this was so fun and charming! i really loved getting invested into the story, wow, i loved how all the choices seem to matter and progress!
honestly your characterisation is great and i loved all the character's personalities. thanks for making this wonderful game :^)
one last thing, please stay hydrated drink water now haha take care
Ah, tysm! I'm glad you liked the game :)
everytime i download it, it gets deleted? how do i download the game and play it
Hello! Here are the steps to extract the game:
If that doesn't work, installing the game via the itch.io app might help. you can find instructions for installing games in the app here: https://itch.io/docs/itch/using/downloading.html
I hope that helps!
see, but it doesn’t even make it to the folder because i hit the download button and the minute it “downloads” it deletes itself out of my files
Hm, that's really strange! I'm not sure what's happening, but I'd suggest trying to install the game via the Itch app and see what happens then.
okay thanks :)
i was able to play it by downloading the app thanks :)))
I'm glad it worked for you!
I'm glad you liked the game (and Wren)! Jay seems to be the favorite, so I always like hearing some love for the detective.
The sequel will continue the story after the events of this game, with Robin as one of the protagonists :)
Thanks so much for playing!
You’re not wrong to want an OT3 route. At least one of them was very aware of the *tension* in that scene.
That miiight be something I have planned for the sequel...
OMG you just skyrocketed my hopes...
I’m glad the both of you liked the game!
My next big project is a direct sequel to this game, so there will definitely be more world building! (and maybe some glimpses of Fletcher...)
thanks so much for playing :)
